The real bird
The Eurasian Stone-curlew is a large-eyed, mostly nocturnal bird of dry, open ground. Its streaky plumage hides it on bare soil by day. At dusk it becomes active, hunting beetles and small reptiles, and its wailing calls carry far across the fields.
The calls you hear in the game are real recordings from xeno-canto.org, credited in the game's sound credits.
