How to play the Barn Swallow
Fly low and fast through the dark midge clouds over the paddocks. Holding R widens your gape but adds drag, so use it only inside a swarm.
- R Insect Sweep
- Aerial midges are caught automatically as you fly through swarms. Hold R to widen your gape (bigger catch radius, more drag).
- T Rally Flock
- T calls your flock into tight formation for a short speed draft.
- C Twitter
- liquid twittering song.
Story quest: The Dusk Insect Swarm
At dusk, clouds of flies rise over the horse paddocks. Catch 40 of them within 2 minutes. Your flock's catches count too. Reward: 380 XP. Start it at its golden marker on the map with G.
The real bird
Barn Swallows are the most widespread swallow on Earth. Many pass through Israel on migration between Europe and Africa, and some stay to breed in villages, gluing cup nests of mud pellets under eaves and inside barns. They hunt insects entirely on the wing, often low over fields and water.
The calls you hear in the game are real recordings from xeno-canto.org, credited in the game's sound credits.
